ABOUT
​
Carrie Halperin is a digital leader with experience building and scaling digital products across media, technology, and growth-focused organizations. She currently serves as a Product Manager and Native Growth Lead at USA TODAY Co., where she is responsible for product strategy and execution across a portfolio of more than 500 native apps. She also works on the company’s AI Transformation Task Force, helping teams thoughtfully integrate AI into product development and operations.

Earlier in her career, Carrie led digital product initiatives for AARP’s Staying Sharp program, supported platform growth at Bloomberg Technology, and held product and editorial roles at The New York Times. She began her career in newsroom environments at CNN and ABC News, working on nationally and internationally distributed programs.
​
Her work spans mobile launches and redesigns, audience growth initiatives, and large-scale digital programs across consumer, nonprofit, and civic spaces. This includes leading product updates that improved revenue performance at USA TODAY Co., redesigning AARP’s Staying Sharp digital experience, and supporting major digital storytelling and engagement efforts at Bloomberg and The New York Times.

Carrie is a Knight Science Journalism Fellow at MIT and a Jefferson Media Fellow.

BLOOMBERG
Bloomberg Technology
As a Producer and Booker for Bloomberg Technology and Studio 1.0, Carrie booked and produced interviews with top technology leaders and Fortune 100 executives—including leaders from Facebook, Microsoft, IBM, and Square—while writing for the daily, hour-long program. In this role, she owned product workflows for Bloomberg Technology’s live and on-demand digital video experiences and partnered with Twitter and YouTube to launch new distribution products that expanded audience reach and engagement. She also helped grow Bloomberg Technology’s YouTube audience by 300%+ through improvements to information architecture, tagging systems, and thumbnail design, while managing end-to-end production logistics, long-range show planning, and coordination of production crews for Studio 1.0.


TOM STEYER 2020
Presidential Campaign Lead Producer
Part product/project manager, part supervising producer, Carrie designed and maintained the workflow of thousands of videos from the campaigns producers. She also helped optimize UX and web design to improve the campaign's user journey. Carrie's role as a lead producer also involved running an internal team and working with agencies/vendors to develop content and place ads .
THE NEW YORK TIMES
Pulitzer Prize Winning Ebola Coverage
As a Video Journalist for The New York Times, Carrie covered everything from short breaking news stories to longer in-depth projects, including the Times' Pulitzer Prize winning Ebola coverage. She was assigned to write, shoot, and edit her own material, essentially acting as a one-man band. She also worked with a team on larger deep-dive projects.


ABC NEWS
Be the Change: Save a Life
Carrie helped lead a large initiative at ABC News', the award winning global health series "Be the Change: Save a Life", in partnership with the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. The campaign raised awareness about global health issues. Part of her role included booking, writing and field producing. She also built and curated ABC News' global health websites.

The campaign successfully raised millions of dollars for global issues and launched a new foundation, 'The Million Moms Challenge' with the UN Foundation that is still operating today.
ABC NEWS
Good Morning America/ World News/Â Nightline/Â 20/20
While working for ABC News, Carrie wrote for a weekly climate and energy blog she created, called 'Changing Cities'. She was also part of the business development committee at ABC Network News. The purpose of the committee was to generate and follow-through on new business ideas for domestic and international markets.
Other responsibilities included booking, shooting, writing and producing segments for America This Morning, Good Morning America, World News, Nightline and 20/20. The segments ranged from news of the day to health, the environment, technology and travel. For this position, Carrie produced both domestic and international stories, traveling to at least 7 countries during her tenure.
